How a vape works

Basically, a vape consists of two parts: a mod and an atomizer. Let's take a closer look at how a vape works by taking a look at the features of each part.

Mod

The mod is the battery unit of the vape, and is the part that corresponds to the engine in a car, where the amount of vapor can be adjusted by changing the voltage and temperature settings. It can be combined with atomizers from different manufacturers and can be customized to your liking. There are two types of mods: mechanical mods and technical mods, and the type you should choose depends on whether you are familiar with vaping or not.

First of all, mechanical mods, which are only equipped with an energizing function, are suitable for intermediate users and above, as they require you to make the settings yourself. Many of them are expensive and well-designed, and some of them are rare and collectible. Vape explosion accidents reported in the media are mainly caused by mishandling of these mechanical mods, and since there is a risk that such accidents could lead to serious accidents, they are not recommended for use by beginners.

On the other hand, many vape devices that are equipped with voltage and temperature control functions in addition to the energizing function have LCDs, which are visually easy to understand, making them a recommended type for beginners. Another advantage is that they are easy to handle and there is a wide selection of inexpensive models. In addition, the built-in safety device prevents accidents like those that occur with mechanical mods. This type is recommended not only for beginners, but also for users who want to use one model for a long time.

Atomizer

There are four parts that make up an atomizer: the drip tip, which is the mouth of the vape, the coil, the air hole, and the tank. First, the coil has a specific resistance value for each product, and the resistance number indicates the resistance to current flow. In other words, the higher the resistance value, the harder it is for the current to flow, and the less vapor is produced, the stronger the flavor of the liquid can be perceived. Conversely, a lower resistance value means more vapor and less flavor of the liquid. Resistance is expressed in ohms.

Next, the air hole, also known as the airflow, is the part that draws air into the atomizer. The larger the air hole, the more air is drawn in, which increases the amount of vapor, making it lighter to inhale and the liquid taste lighter. If the air hole is made smaller, you will enjoy a firmer feel and a richer flavor. For the tank that holds the liquid, it is best to choose one made of heat-resistant glass, which is resistant to a variety of liquids. Liquid can be injected either from the bottom of the atomizer (bottom-fill type) or from the top (top-fill type). The bottom-fill type requires the atomizer to be removed from the battery each time it is filled, so the top-fill type is recommended for beginners.

As for the standard of the connection part to the mod, if you choose an atomizer with a 510 plug, it can be connected to most mods. Most mods on the market are compatible with atomizers with a 22mm diameter connection, so choosing a 22mm atomizer will give you a wider selection of mods to use. However, there are some atomizers and mods that are designed with a wider connection. If the size of the atomizer and the mod do not match, there will be no problem in using the mod, but be aware that the mod will look awkward.
